Cat Cafe Time at Hapi Neko, Shibuya

A Modern Girl / モダンガール

Hapi Neko

I love cats. I recent acquired two adorable kittens (one Persian, one Himalayan), but since they are back in Berkeley while I am in Tokyo for the summer, I’ve been experiencing some definite cat withdrawals. Luckily, Tokyo is home to a number of cat cafes, which are perfect for people like me who just can’t have pets at home but really just want to be in the vicinity of these cute creatures for a little while. Anyway, for my very first cat cafe, I chose Hapi Neko (“Happy Cat”) near my old apartment in Dogenzaka, Shibuya.

Hapi Neko

Hapi Neko is a cute little cafe that overlooks Shibuya’s bustling streets yet manages to be very quiet and peaceful. It’s bright and cheerful with several little couches and chairs where patrons can sit and enjoy a drink and some little cookies while enjoying their feline companions. Admission to Hapi Neko was…

Rebels to kick-off San Diego Comic-Con Star Wars presence

Star Wars Always

StarWars.com have updated with a guide to the official Star Wars presence at the San Diego Comic-Con later this month. Here are the highlights:

  • a Rebels panel featuring Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar and Taylor Gray
  • an original trilogy storyboards panel featuring Joe Johnston and J.W. Rinzler
  • a Hasbro Star Wars panel featuring a look at upcoming Rebels action figures
  • a panel on the new canon featuring John Jackson Miller, Pablo Hidalgo, Dave Filoni, Jennifer Heddle, Shelley Shapiro, Vanessa Marshall and Frank Parisi

No Episode VII panels will feature—instead the emphasis will be on Rebels and the new direction for the wider canon, which of course will be the focus for the next 12 months. StarWars.com will be live blogging for the event.

In the meantime, here’s a new video featuring Chopper, the most mechanical member of RebelsGhost crew:

A New Dawn jacket and full blurb

Star Wars Always

On the 2nd of September, Star Wars: A New Dawn will officially signal the start of a new chapter in Star Wars storytelling, where novels, comics, games, TV series and films all contribute to the overall canon of the universe. Although we’ve had a taste already with Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir and Blade Squadron, A New Dawn represents the moment where tie-in media can truly exist side-by-side with anything on film. This is where the Kathleen Kennedy-led era of Lucasfilm begins to bear fruit.

Del Rey’s Star Wars Facebook page has just updated with the final jacket for the book, including a rather detailed description of the premise of the story (via Johnamarie at Making Star Wars):

If I Have Gay Children: Four Promises From A Christian Pastor/Parent

One of the most beautiful things I have ever read

john pavlovitz

KidsFiltered

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll have gay children.

I’m not sure if other parents think about this, but I do; quite often.

Maybe it’s because I have many gay people in my family and circle of friends. It’s in my genes and in my tribe.
Maybe it’s because, as a pastor of students, I’ve seen and heard the horror stories of gay Christian kids, from both inside and outside of the closet, trying to be part of the Church.
Maybe it’s because, as a Christian, I interact with so many people who find homosexuality to be the most repulsive thing imaginable, and who make that abundantly clear at every conceivable opportunity.

For whatever reason, it’s something that I ponder frequently. As a pastor and a parent, I wanted to make some promises to you, and to my two kids right now…

1) If I have gay children, you’ll all know it.

My children won’t…
